Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na CMC or CMC cellulose gum) is the most widely used and most frequently used type of anionic cellulose ether. It is a white fibrous or carboxymethyl cellulose powder. Odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, hygroscopic, easily soluble in both hot and cold water, obtained by chemical modification of natural fibers featured by unusual and extremely valuable physical and chemical properties. The main raw material to process CMC is refined cotton and wood pulp.
