Innolux holds 50% TV panel market share

Dec 17, 2012

Innolux Corporation (which changed its name from Chimei Innolux (CMI) on November 14, 2012) has reportedly already shipped two million TV panels in December 2012, bumping up its global market proportion of TV panels shipped during the period to 50%, according to market observers.

The increase in TV panel shipments is due to new panel size strategies implemented by Innolux since the beginning of 2012 that include TV panel sizes such as 29-, 39-, 50- and 58-inch, said the sources. China-based TV vendors in particular have been attracted to the sizes and have bumped up their orders to Innolux throughout December amid anticipation of growing TV sales during the Lunar New Year holiday period in early 2013, added the sources.

Within the panel sizes sizes, 39-inch has been the most sought after size from China-based TV vendors, including TCL, Hisense and Skyworth. The sources said that within the two million shipments, nearly 75% are for 39-inch TV panels, which is already much higher than the 1.15 million 39-inch units shipped by Innolux throughout all of November.

The sources also estimated that Innolux's 50-inch TV panel shipments will increase by 120,000 units on month in December and that the company's 58-inch TV panel shipments will increase as well.
