Jan 29, 2013

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) has announced the list of finalists for the highest honor a Taiwan-made product may receive, the Taiwan Excellence Gold Awards!

This year’s candidates showcase an increasing diversity among the products considered for the award, which in previous years primarily focused on Taiwan’s ICT (information and communications technology) industry. The 2013 finalists include offerings from the fitness, machine tool, automotive, and cultural & creative industries.

Candidates include top offerings from consumer electronics, fitness, and machine tool industries.

The Taiwan Excellence symbol was established by the Taiwan  Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) in 1992 in order to promote Taiwan’s most outstanding products, and the Taiwan Excellence Award was started the following year. To date, 6,867 products have been given the Taiwan Excellence distinction. The MOEA is continually holding promotional activities to establish the reputation of Taiwan’s exceptional products across the world.

Candidates for the Taiwan Excellence Awards 2013 face very rigorous competition, with 1,221 entries from 483 companies and 541 products from 198 companies being selected for consideration. Those who receive an award may then use the Taiwan Excellence logo in their domestic and overseas promotion. In addition, 27 products receive the honor of being considered for a Taiwan Excellence Gold Award.

Taiwan remains a world leader in innovation and design excellence for its consumer electronic products. Among the Taiwan Excellence Gold Award 2013 finalists is mobile device maker HTC Corp.’s HTC One X and One S smartphones. Taiwan has some of the world’s largest companies making green products such as bicycles, energy saving lights and solar cells, among others.
