Taipei, May 14 (CNA) Evergreen Marine Corp., one of Taiwan's major shipping companies, said Tuesday it has been named as the best trans-Pacific ocean carrier by a regional industry newspaper.
Evergreen Marine was selected from a field of 10 other shippers for the top spot in the Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA), which are granted annually by Cargonews Asia, a publication geared toward the logistics and cargo supply business in the region.
The awards are decided by the publication's readers based on criteria such schedule integrity, effectiveness and user friendliness of IT systems, efficiency and professionalism of customer services, and port of call coverage.
Evergreen Marine said its selection for the top award was a vote of confidence in its efforts to provide quality services.
The AFSCA awards were designed to honor the winning organizations for demonstrating leadership as well as consistency in service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability, Evergreen Marine said.
Currently, Evergreen Marine operates 14 regular trans-Pacific routes, providing a comprehensive service to ports in Asia and North America.
In February, the company was ranked by Containerisation International magazine's Asian Shiper Sentiment Survey as the top shipper in terms of "overall performance" and "consultation on schedule changes"
Its competitors in the 27th AFSCA this year included Singapore-based shipper APL China Ocean Shipping Co., China Shipping Container Line, French container shipping company CMA CGM, and Hanjin Shipping of South Korea.
