Italian textile machinery producers return to Indonesia

Oct 17, 2013

ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, returns to Indonesia with two symposiums presenting Italian textile technology to local textile manufacturers.

The industrial areas of Solo and Bandung will host symposiums, organised by ACIMIT and  ICE-Trade Promotion Agency, in November. During the event, some of Italy’s leading textile machinery producers will be presenting their latest products to Indonesian textile operators.

Indonesian market

This initiative follows in the wake of the Sistema Italia mission last May, which highlighted the interest of the local market for Italian textile technology.

“Indonesia is one of our primary export destinations,” said Raffaella Carabelli, President of ACIMIT. “During the institutional mission last May, we were able to witness just how much the local authorities are committed to promoting the textile industry in order to increase their export production (currently standing at around 60%)”.

Indonesia ranks among the top ten exporters of textile products and garments, and among the primary markets for textile machinery. In 2012, Italy exported textile machinery to Indonesia for an overall value of EUR 38 million, which is a 30% increase over the previous year.

During the first six months of 2013, Italian exports to Indonesia exceeded EUR 18 million. According to ACIMIT, the demand for Italian machinery in Indonesia focuses on spinning and finishing machines.

Commitment to promotion

Over 3,000 manufacturers are operating in the country and 13% in the central area of the same island, where Solo is located. “Sales of Italian technology on the Indonesian market have grown over the past five years at a rhythm of 30% on average annually,” Carabelli commented.

“I’m certain that the characteristics of our technology, that is its quality, versatility and special attention to sustainability for the entire production process, will enable Italy’s technology producers to further strengthen their presence in Indonesia.”

Italian manufacturers like Biancalani, Bianco, Fadis, Mesdan, Pentek, Ricambi Tessili RI.TE, Roj, Savio, SSM Giudici and Unitech will be present in Solo and Bandung.

ACIMIT

ACIMIT is a private non-profit body and its main purpose is to  promote the Italian textile machinery sector and in supporting its activity, mainly abroad.

In order to do that, ACIMIT provides information on the activity of the producers and organises a wide range of promotional activities, often in collaboration with ICE (Italian Trade Commission).

Another major aim of the association is to inform  its member companies about commercial, financial and technical problems in  different markets in order to facilitate market entry.
