Samsung is not the leader on the Indian tablet market

Recently, Samsung refuted the claims that it has lost its top position on the Indian market to local contender Micromax, but from the looks of it, the troubled giant could have just lost another pretty important and profitable dominion. According to IDC, Samsung has been dethroned from the local tablet market, too.

IDC’s report claims that in Q4 2014 Samsung has accounted for 12.9% of all sold tablets in India, while the first spot in this chart got occupied by a lesser-known local OEM manufacturer, iBall, which had 15.6% of the market. The runner-ups are Datawind (another local representative) with 9.6%, Lenovo, responsible for 9.4%, and HP, which grasped 8.7% of the market. The remainder of 43.8% goes to other manufacturers.

Of course, given the marginal mistakes in the numbers, we won’t be surprised at all if Samsung once again refutes IDC’s reports, re-claiming dominance in one of the largest tablet markets in the world.

Samsung is reportedly poised to overhaul its tablet portfolio in 2015 with a lot of new models. We’re quite sure that a new Galaxy Tab lineup is on its way, as well as the new generation of its top-tier Tab S offerings.
