Taiwan Hardware Show (THS), organized by Kaigo and co-organized by the Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers’ Association, with assistance from the Taichung City Government, is the leading international specialist trade fair for the hardware and hand tools sector. Now in its 20th year, the event will take place during 13-15 October, 2020 at the Taichung International Exhibition Center. Following a successful track record set in 2019, THS this year aims to solicit an even wider variety of exhibitors worldwide, and build the optimal one-stop sourcing platform for visitors that deliver more effective product display, meaningful business conversations and factory visits.
Taiwan is the world’s third-largest manufacturer and exporter of hardware and hand tools. Recognized globally for its diverse design, innovative R&D, product differentiation and adjustable manufacturing capacity, the country has become a top choice for high-profile companies in Europe and the US when it comes to establishing facilities for high-value products, as well as collaborating on advanced technology R&D projects. Taichung, the venue of the event, represents a key industrial cluster for the hardware and hand tools industry, and is home to a network of more than 2,000 suppliers across the upstream, middle-stream and downstream sectors, involving 40,000 plus practitioners, all of which have led to a close-knit and well-organized supply chain ecosystem. As such, Taichung boasts the highest degree of concentration of the hardware and hand tools industry around the world, at the same time serving as an important hub that drives global industry trends and development.
Last year, THS 2019 set an all-time record high by gathering together 430 exhibitors with more than 1,000 exhibition booths, and attracting purchasing representatives from 93 countries, with a total of 5,268 international buyer visits. The visit footfall totaled 32,000, and as much as 68% of the visitors were decision-makers on purchasing. In addition, a considerable 93% of visitors reported a high level of satisfaction with the event quality, while over 86% of exhibitors expressed willingness to participate in the event next year. These solid numbers demonstrate the success of THS, which has been widely recognized by both exhibitors and visitors as the best platform for reaching clients worldwide and launching business conversations.
“Taiwan’s hardware and hand tools industry is globally recognized, and THS as a trade fair wonderfully exhibits the strength of Taiwan’s OEM, ODM and OBM manufacturers in the industry. What’s special this year is a brand new hand tools R&D testing section, which will showcase results from the “Hand Tools R&D Testing Center,” an institution co-established by China Steel, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre and Corporate Synergy Development Center, and further illustrate the hand tools R&D prowess of Taiwan,” said Hsin-Te Huang, Chairman of the Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers’ Association.
With 40 years of history, the organizer Kaigo is a leading trade fair company in Taiwan. Since the inception of THS, Kaigo has been conducting the event each year with a keen eye on international standards and the broader global market, while leveraging its long-time partnership with the International Hardware Fair Cologne (IHF), hoping to serve as businesses’ gateway to the global market. In addition to creating a one-stop sourcing platform that covers exhibition visits, business meetings and factory visits, Kaigo provides accommodation subsidy for international buyers, and seeks to enhance the event’s global visibility by working with prominent members of the media in the global DIY market for event marketing. Today, THS has become one of the top must-attend trade fairs for global buyers in the fields of hardware, hand tools and DIY. To further boost event values, Kaigo’s team selected the International Hardware Fair Cologne, scheduled in March this year, to be the first stop for promoting THS globally, hoping to attract more internationally acclaimed businesses to participate.
THS 2020 will cover eight main categories, including tools & accessories, garden & outdoor equipment, locks & fittings, automotive suppliers & accessories, fasteners & fittings, machines & plant equipment, building suppliers, and safety equipment & products. To celebrate the event’s 20th anniversary, Kaigo is now launching limited special offers.
