Three tradeshows organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) – Taipei International Cycle Show (Cycle Taipei), Taipei International Auto Parts & Accessories Show (Taipei AMPA) and Taipei International Information Technology Show (Computex Taipei) – have been approved by the First UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) Global CEO Forum for Exhibition Organizers (UCF) held in Madrid, Spain. UFI is the union of the world’s leading tradeshow organizers and fairground owners. In addition to holding events that promote exchange of professional knowledge between its members, UFI certifies international exhibitions. Exhibitions approved by UFI are permitted to use the UFI logo on their publicity materials and websites in order to raise their trustworthiness and boost international buyers’ confidence in them. Executive Vice President of TAITRA Walter Yeh has endeavored to improve Taiwan businesses’ global presence. He attended the UCF and successfully helped have the above three tradeshows approved by UFI. It was not an easy task to have Cycle Taipei, Taipei AMPA and Computex Taipei approved by UFI, which will promote positive images of Taiwan. Last year (2008) saw a substantial growth in the size of the booths and numbers of exhibitors and visitors with these three shows held in Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall for the first time. They generate sizable business opportunity for Taiwan each year and have become one of the key international purchasing platforms.
