2016 TAIPEI AMPA 4-in-1 Exhibition Successful Close

Apr 27, 2016

The 2016 Taipei International Auto Parts & Accessories Show (Taipei AMPA), AutoTronics Taipei, Taiwan International Electric Vehicle Show and Taiwan International Motorcycle Industry Show came to a successful close at the Nangang Exhibition Center and Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 on April 9. According to statistics from Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the four-day exhibition was host to a total of 6,555 foreign buyers from 134 countries (regions). The top ten buyer countries (regions) were, in order of sequence, Japan, Mainland China, United States, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Philippines and Australia.

With fully mobilized support from TAITRA and the Overseas Offices of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the exhibitions succeeded in attracting many important foreign buyers with annual turnovers of over ten million US dollars to Taiwan for purchases. The "One-on-One Joint Procurement Meetings" held on the opening day (April 6) hosted 372 meetings between 73 heavyweight foreign buyers from 25 countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Brazil and Russia, and 188 Taiwanese exhibitors. The meetings achieved US$18.72 million in purchases with follow-up trade opportunities of up to US$40.43million, a 38% growth from last year.

AD Auto Total, the second largest auto part importer in Romania, concluded cooperation agreements with manufacturers of automotive lights in Taiwan through participation in the exhibition and procurement meetings. Tanzanian company Nippon Tanzania Ltd. said that this trip allowed them to experience the quality of Taiwanese products manufactured for Japanese brands and to locate multiple potential suppliers. French racing auto part distributor Groupe Oreca stated performance auto parts are known for small production quantities and high levels of variety. They expressed immense satisfaction in that Taiwanese manufacturers not only accept small orders, but also maintain high product quality and reasonable prices.

All seven members of the Sourcing Delegation of the Federation of Engineering and Motor Parts Traders’ Association Malaysia (FEMPTAM) agree that the variety and innovation demonstrated at the exhibition makes it the top event of its type in Asia. The venue is reasonably scaled, allowing visitors to find suitable suppliers with ease. Grupo Jomar, a large auto part importer from Mexico, sent representatives to the exhibition for the first time and they found the AMPA and AutoTronics exhibitions to be rich in both variety and level of innovation, in turn enabling the company to devise marketing plans for diversified products in Mexico domestically.

TAITRA hosted two industry seminars on electric vehicles during the exhibition in light of the Taiwan International Electric Vehicle Show. Experts from the China State Grid Electric Power Research Institute gave talks on the development of electric vehicles in China and Experts from the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research analyzed global trends in the development of electric vehicles. Both seminars were packed to the degree of standing room only. Although market demand for electric vehicles dropped along with oil prices, the industry’s focus on the development of EV technologies continues to rise.

This year, the Taiwan International Motorcycle Industry Show achieved even more significant outcomes with a 14% increase in scale compared to last year. The number of buyers also increased from last year and exhibitors such as NCY Motor Sports, Phongeer Motorsports, Dr. Pulley and Adiva were all satisfied with the results of this year’s exhibition. The main draw of the exhibition was the "Custom Bike Mega Contest" where 50 customized motorcycles are on display, each equipped with tuned parts made by Taiwanese exhibitors. The manufacturers of the parts declared that the professional works of the participating connoisseurs have reached international standards. The results from the judges were 10 Awards of Merit and 5 Award Winners including Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalists. Auto fans crowded into the venue on the final day of the exhibition as ongoing events reached their climax.

The TAIPEI AMPA Four-in-One Exhibition is known for its "large number of professional buyers and excellent services for exhibitors," which is precisely its secret for drawing uncontested support from Taiwanese companies and the participation of many foreign exhibitors. For example, the Thailand Pavilion administrative announced that they will be increasing their number of booths next year. First-time exhibitors Daiwa Automobiles Inc. of Japan, Rosenberger of Germany and Soltechnology Co. Ltd. of Korea all recognized the success of the exhibition as they forged connections with several new buyers; Indian tire manufacturer Apollo participated in the exhibition to develop the Taiwanese market and expressed the opinion that the shows really do attract high quality participants in terms of both exhibitors and visitors. Turkish electric vehicle producer Oscar Electric Vehicles joined the EV Show for the first time this year and have already said that they will be participating again next year. Over 70% of exhibitors of the Motorcycle Industry Show expresses desire to participate in subsequent exhibitions.

The 2017 "Taipei International Auto Parts & Accessories Show" and "AutoTronics Taipei" will be held at the Nangang Exhibition Center and Area A of the TWTC Exhibition Hall 1 from April 19 (Wednesday) to 22 (Saturday).
