Organisational work has already begun for the next edition of CosmoBike Show, the international bicycle exhibition scheduled at Veronafiere 16-19 September 2016. CosmoBike Show has become the leading event in Italy in the bicycle sector and the only national preview of innovations in the sector for 2017. The first edition attracted 50,000 visitors, 500 companies and brands from 24 countries occupying four halls for a total of 43,000 square meters of exhibition space; more than 3000 bike tests took place during the event. Thanks to these results, the first important confirmations have already arrived from international companies and brands in the bike world choosing CosmoBike Bike Show as the showcase for their business in Italy.
VeronaFiere and CosmoBike Show thereby carry forwards an ambitious project to give the bicycle industry an event of international calibre that is also a landmark for international buyers and dealers. International events generate turnover of more than 60 billion euros per year for Italian companies and are the main tool for promoting "Made in Italy" around the world (source AEFI - Italian Exhibition and Trade Fair Association). According to AEFI, taking part in exhibitions generates around 50% of global exports by Italian companies.
Visitors to CosmoBike 2016 will have the chance to see and handle products and try out new models and innovations for 2017: from traditional bikes to mountain bikes, racing bikes and electrical bikes, from fat-bikes to "special needs bike", through to accessories and clothing for cyclists. The outdoor testing routes will ensure various levels of difficulty for mountain bikes, a route for e-bikes and another for road bikes.
Technology, innovation and lifestyle are the guidelines of the CosmoBike Tech Awards in the search for ideas, projects and products that truly stand out in the bicycle industry in terms of creativity and originality.
Cycling is increasingly becoming the symbol of a healthy and environment-friendly life-style and the main objective of CosmoBike Show is to make bicycles the most popular means of transport for shortmedium range urban mobility. The CosmoBike Mobility section, in fact, will analyse topics such as urban mobility, environmental sustainability and civic education: Verona will become a place for meetings and discussions involving designers, technicians, administrators, companies and associations focusing on every aspect of design and implementation of bicycle-friendly cities.
In the wake of impressive success during the 2015 edition, the CosmoBike Tourism sector dedicated to bike-tourism is bigger than ever. About half a million tourists visit Italy riding a bike and stay in one of more than twenty thousand farm holiday centres all over the country. Cycling tourism represents 31% of Italian tourist activity, with 61% foreign tourists and the remaining 39% domestic "fans". Today, bicycle tourism in Italy covers 12% of GDP: and this kind of tourist activity is unaffected by seasons - it can be enjoyed 70% of the year and is eco-sustainable - and deserves support and investment. This is the impact of bicycle tourism in Italy, a segment that has grown in recent years to confirm the desire for "slow holidays" enjoyed along the rough tracks and bicycle routes all over Italy. It is no coincidence that Italy is one of the leading bicycle manufacturing companies (approximately 25 million/year).
