Even as Europe and U.S. have taken a conservative approach towards PV, demands in Asia will keep the market going. The European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) has predicted globally, installed capacity will reach 207.9-342.8GWp by 2016, surging from 69.7GWp in 2011. Meanwhile, EPIA said with PV capacity set to grow 200-400% over the next five years, Asia and other emerging markets will take away Europe’s leadership status. Asia has become the most eye-catching PV market in the world!
Taiwan’s solar cell capacity accounted for 17% of the world in 2011 (Solarbuzz), ranking No. 2 globally. Among the world’s top ten solar cell firms in terms of shipments, Motech, Gintech and Neo Solar Power ranked No. 6, 7 and 8. Taiwan is definitely a force to be reckoned with. As the largest PV Exhibition and Forum in Taiwan, PV Taiwan is no doubt one of the most important events worldwide.
Record’s five months ahead of PV Taiwan 2012 beckons a record show that reflects the dazzling growth of PV, one of the world’s fastest growing and most promising of human endeavors. The coming venue already hosts 200 exhibitors who are using 500 booths – and the numbers are rapidly increasing. This year’s PV Taiwan will build upon last year’s success that attracted more than 11,000 visitors that includes many professionals and buyers who are traveling from more than 50 nations, including Germany, the US, Japan, Australia, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and China.
PV Taiwan is a guaranteed success since it’s organized by TAITRA (Taiwan’s top trade show organizer the Taiwan External Trade Development Council) ,SEMI and TPVIA. Visitors to the Oct. 3-5 TWTC venue can scout from leading firms including AUO, PCM, E-TON SOLAR, GINTECH, ISEC, Millennium Communication, Mosel, Neo Solar, Sunwell, Win Win Precision Technology, SIEMENS and SCHMID. And this list is still growing!
PV Taiwan grows with the industry
Stepping on the cornerstone in semiconductor and flat panel manufacturing, Taiwan PV industry equips with world-class manufacturing capability, excellent industry infrastructure and R&D talents. Taiwan and China combined shipments of solar cells
in 2011 held 80% of global share. In view of Taiwan’s status as a major manufacturing country in solar cells, this year PV Taiwan features several pavilions that cover every facet of the solar energy, particularly those technologies with exceptional potential or in growing demand.
Key Theme Pavilions at PV Taiwan 2012 include:
High-Concentration Photovoltaic (HCPV) Pavilion
Optimistic about HCPV, domestic and oversea manufacturers such as Azur, Boeing, Emcore, SolFocus, Sharp, Delta Electronics, EVERPHOTON Energy, Arima EcoEnergy, and Compound Solar have all invested in this new technology. It is predicted that the global market for HCPV will take off in 2012, and the capacity will grow from 42MW in 2010 to a staggering 5,300 MW in 2020, which represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 60%, a high-growth market indeed!
Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) Pavilion
DSSCs, the third-generation nanoparticle-based thin film solar cells, are easy to manufacture, have high plasticity, fewer installation restrictions, and wider applications. DSSCs also have the lowest production cost among all solar cell technologies, making it highly desirable in the solar energy industry and it is expected to enjoy explosive growth in the development of solar cells in the future.
Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) Pavilion
With the advantages of being low cost and ranking number one in solar cell conversion efficiency among thin film solar cells, CIGS has been greatly sought after in recent years. According to Solarbuzz, capital expenditure on thin film equipment in 2011 will grow by 71%, among which CIGS and amorphous silicon thin film technology account for 78%.
Building-integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) Pavilion
Combining solar power generation with buildings external walls, BIPV is the best solution for solving the problem of excessive cost of land acquisition for the installation and integration of power generation equipment and building exterior. It will also be the basis for essential building materials required for the construction of green cities in the years to come.
With robust industry growth, PV Taiwan is on track for incredible business. A CEO forum and a series of technical symposiums will be held in conjunction with the show. It features world noted speakers and experts from global leading companies to give insiders on the latest trends.
PV Taiwan is the most significant PV event in Asia. A combined forum and exhibition, PV Taiwan provides a professional platform for world’s PV industry players to scout the latest trend, catch the market, connect to business partners and purchase high-quality PV products. It gives visitors a comprehensive overview of Taiwan’s entire industrial cluster, photovoltaic materials, silicon wafers, solar cells, modules, systems, HCPV, DSSC, CIGS and BIPV, applied products, production equipment, testing and analysis equipment and certification services.
