Just over 300 days until the global plastics industry gathers in Düsseldorf, Germany for the triennial K Show (Oct. 19-26, 2022), its organizer, Messe Düsseldorf announced the thought leaders that will shape the leading themes for the event— climate protection, circular economy and digitalization.
In addition to being addressed by exhibitor displays of new technologies, services and more, Messe Düsseldorf noted that the themes will be prevalent in the what it’s calling the “official special show—Plastics Shape the Future”, as well as the fair’s Circular Economy Forum and Science Campus.
The K 2022 Scientific Council already met in July and November 2021 to nail down the “most important aspects of the individual key themes, formulate current and forward-looking issues, and set the course for implementation at the trade show,” according to Messe Düsseldorf.
Council members hail from universities, institutes and industry, numbering eight in total. The scientists have already developed a list of relevant aspects, which includes recycling of composites, standardization of recyclates, microparticles in the environment, biodegradable plastics, CO2 as a polymer component, digital markers, digitalization as an enabler for circular economy, lightweight construction and e-mobility.
In addition to focusing on these key themes, the K 2022 Scientific Council also actively supports measures to promote young talent in the plastics and rubber industry.
