“Interpets” has started preparations for its sixth edition
“Interpets – International Fair for a Better Life with Pets –” is now calling for exhibitors from around the world for its sixth edition. The show will take place from 31 March – 3 April (Thu-Sun) 2016 at Tokyo Big Sight East hall 1 and 2, concurrently again with two other pet related fairs under the same roof titled “AJPET (All Japan Pet Expo in Tokyo)”. Interpets is the only international fair among the three, and not only showcases pet food and pet products, but also provides a platform where new ideas and business can be incubated by bringing together the fields of housing, interior design, fashion, IT, automobiles, tourism and leisure.
The size of the pet market in Japan has shown steady growth in recent years, and grew by one percent in 2014 (1.44 trillion Japanese yen) compared to 2013. Responding to the stable market expansion and increasing demand by the industry to participate, the show will double its exhibition space compared to the previous year in order to welcome more exhibitors and visitors.
The 2015 edition welcomed 233 exhibitors from 15 countries/regions (Domestic: 185, Overseas: 48) and 22,039 visitors from 22 countries/regions (Domestic: 21,508, Overseas: 531) throughout the four days. The show received favourable feedback from participants, with more than 90% of exhibitors and visitors who answered the questionnaires expressing their intention to come back to the event next year. In addition, the number of both overseas exhibitors and visitors showed outstanding increases this year (exhibitor: by 55%, visitor: by 61%). These positive results prove that Interpets has cemented its position as a key platform for the pet industry, not just in Japan but also in the Asia-Pacific region.

Interpets will again conduct a business matching programme, which was first implemented at the 2013 edition, in response to the increase in international exhibitors. It will be offered to overseas exhibitors on the first day of the fair, inviting decision-making buyers from leading wholesalers, trading houses and retailers in the pet industry in Japan to meet with them.
With the return of informative and inspiring events, seminars and lecturers, the 2016 show will promote active interaction between the pet and other industries, provide ideas and suggestions for a more comfortable lifestyle with pets, and is expected to attract more visitors who are seeking a wide range of products and information.
The fair will open exclusively to trade visitors on the first day, and then to both trade and public visitors from the second day onwards.
